  1. Great Job building vehicles Americans want. Take out the Chinese, Korean, and Polish imports and Buick sold 7,522 vehicles built in America. MAGA buy a Subaru, almost all of them are made in America, and better quality, and more reliable than anything Buick builds here.

    1. And where do the profits go when you buy a Subaru?

Perhaps if it was easier and less risky (strikes and walk-outs) to build cars here rather than elsewhere, real automakers (such as GM) that sell more than a handful of cars here and there (Subaru) would be more inclined to invest in new plants for the long-term in the U.S.

What you see in the U.S. currently is what took place in Australia 25-30 years ago… a process that left the country with zero local automotive manufacturing.

    2. Ideally, all of the vehicles sold in the United States should be built in the United States. However, there are many constrain that limit this (UAW contracts, Vehicle volume, Plant Capacity, etc) I think the more important factor is where these vehicles are designed, engineered, developed and validated. I would rather have all the engineering work done in the United States and the vehicle built outside the US, then the opposite. Engineering and skilled labor are jobs we need keep in this country. I know from experience, the Japanese OEMs limit the amount of engineering done outside of Japan and only outsource the none criteria engineering to US departments.

    3. The Subaru dealership by you must not sell Foresters, Crosstreks, WRXs & BRZs because all those vehicles are built in Japan.

GM has 12 assembly plants employing over 50,000 workers, and building ~ 2,800,000 Vehicles a year in the U.S.
BTW- Buicks are reliable, Consumer Reports is not.

  2. I don’t think anyone is going to really miss the Verano.
We thought they where a joke when they arrived at our
Dealership. Nothing about it shouted or resembled a
Buick at all. Im glad GM dropped that like a bad habbit.

  3. I don’t know what you were looking at the Verano had the same front look as all other Buicks , but I think you lost those customers that were in that price range . as for Buicks sales decline the word is out that Buicks are not made in the USA . Buicks are an AMERICAN brand that is suppose to be made in the USA. Another thought Buick is not a middle priced brand , it is more upper class , so with that said GM does not have a middle class bracket loosing those sales to the foreign crap . That would have been smart ( but when did GM do something smart) if they kept PONITAC or OLDSMOBILE which would have fit better in divisions

  4. Is comparing year over year sales the best in determining how well a company is performing?

    Reply
    1. It’s the standard method of comparing business performance.
