Earlier this month, Holden laid its manufacturing arm to rest after 69 years of Australian production. With it, the locally-built Commodore died with it. Over time, many iconic Holden names have come and gone, but Marvel fans familiar with Australian motoring history are in for a fun Easter egg that recalls numerous Holden cars.
When “Thor: Ragnarok” releases on November 2, 2017, fans of the film series and Holden cars should catch on to the spaceships’ titles. The “Commodore,” “Torana,” “Statesman” and “Kingswood” nameplates all grace various space vessels in the film. Director Taika Waititi revealed the Easter egg in an interview with YouTuber Triple j.
Waititi reportedly took a few cues from Australian culture and implemented them into the film. The film’s lead actor,  Chris Hemsworth, is also Australian.
We’ll have to wait and see how the Commodore, Torana and other vessels propel the film’s plot forward, but ahead of its release, “Thor: Ragnarok” has already garnered positive reviews.
