It’s SEMA week and many performance shops across the United States have worked diligently to prepare builds and custom cars for the event. That includes the Hoonigan crew, which recently installed a new V8 engine into their Holden VT Commodore Ute project.
The video above follows the long (read: semi-humorous) process of installing the engine into the ute with a couple other new components along the way.
From previous videos, we know the shop selected an LS1 V8 engine and plenty of Holley components to bolster the build. However, it’s unclear what else might be in the pipeline for the company’s ute project. We’re curious how the shop even sourced a relatively new VT ute into California, to be quite honest…

Not a VT. For a start, there’s no such thing as a VT ute. By the look of it, it’s a VY, but would be a VU at the oldest, which was pretty much the same as a VX.
