GM Donates $5 Million To The Henry Ford Museum Complex

Good guy GM announced a $5 million contribution to The Henry Ford Museum complex, which obviously stirs up some potential jokes. The museum honors cross-town rival Ford Motor Company’s founder, Henry Ford.

With the donation, General Motors will sponsor various rotating exhibits and The Henry Ford Museum and the complex announced a flexible gallery space will be renamed “The Gallery by General Motors.” For all the jokes, the museum isn’t just a place for Ford.

The museum’s mission is to preserve pieces of American history, with a particular emphasis on American innovation and ingenuity. The Galley by General Motors will play host to “The Science Behind Pixar” and “Enduring Ideals: Rockwell, Roosevelt & the Four Freedoms,” which will occupy The Gallery from fall-2018. The former runs through spring of 2018, while the latter exhibit will be on display until fall of next year.

Previously, GM’s Mark Reuss joined The Henry Ford board of trustees and became the first GM employee to ever serve on the board itself.

  1. GM doesn’t have a museum of their own so they’ll rent some space at the Henry Ford.

  2. They do have a museum but entry is to only large groups at limited times. It is called the GM Heritage collection.

The Ford Museum is the history of all cars not just Ford. They have invited HM to display many cars there over the years. They have some of the greatest cars from many mfg. the Benz 300SLR is wonderful but the first American a Honda is a bore lol.

  3. 90% of all Model A hotrods have a small block chevy, 90% of ford fox body racecars have a LSx power plant, are we shocked that a ford museum needs a chevy product installed at the heart of it. LOL

  4. Kudos!!! The Henry Ford is a National Treasure and it’s great seeing rivals working together for a well deserving museum!! I hope GM (and other car manufacturers) continue to support The Henry Ford forever!

  5. Well done Mark Reuss, trust you will celebrate your Holden connection and the brands historic contribution to GM’s heritage using this facility.
GM’s first export field man set up office in Sydney in February 1912, by the mid 20’s Australia was GM’s largest export market and Holden the largest motor body builder outside of North America.
Holden was GM’s first original brand name, stimulated Sunraycer and the subsequent electric car revival, and resurrected GM rear drive passenger car engineering.
