General Motors Company reported 279,397 new vehicle deliveries for September 2017 in the U.S. market, an 11.9 percent increase compared to September 2016. Sales increased at Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC and decreased at Buick.
“Our new crossovers from Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac have been very well-received and Chevrolet had an outstanding month with the Silverado and Colorado,” said Kurt McNeil, U.S. vice president of Sales Operations. “We are entering the fourth quarter with strong momentum, great products and a healthy economy.”
GM continues to focus on crossovers, a segment that is growing in volume and also carries higher margins. By the end of 2017, GM will offer customers the U.S. industry’s newest and broadest lineup of crossovers, including the 2018 Chevy Equinox, 2018 GMC Terrain, 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2018 Buick Enclave along with the Buick Regal TourX ruggedized wagon. An all-new Cadillac XT4 compact crossover will launch in 2018 to grow Cadillac’s crossover lineup. And though not officially confirmed, GM is also expected to introduce a new Chevrolet Blazer as a midsize crossover next year.
GM Chief Economist Mustafa Mohatarem said all the key U.S. economic indicators point toward continued economic growth and stability. In addition, regions devastated by the recent hurricanes will continue to recover, helping spur new and used vehicle sales.
“The overall strength of the U.S. economy is the main force driving the market,” he said. “With the U.S. economy strengthening, retail sales should remain strong for the foreseeable future.”

Thanks Obama

Now redesign the malibu and Impala
Denali and Cadillac are really driving GEms bottom line!!!! Cant wait to see the same from Avenir!!!
Plus Silverado plus crossovers plus SUVs.
GM is doing a great job selling down the outgoing crossover models, Equinox, Traverse, Terrain and Enclave. They carry generous discounts to help with the process.
The good news is that the new model pipeline is still in it’s earlier stages and looks to have no end. The timetable for model refresh or redesign has been greatly reduced. The net result is more current models from GM and better margins.
Yes they are. Picked up a 2017 Terrain SLE-1 in September. Couldn’t pass up the deal. $10,600 off sticker.
I sure hope the SUV fad dies down in the upcoming years. Getting sick of looking at them clogging up the roadways!
Keep waiting…………….
Until gas hits $4 again, they’re here to stay. And even then, people will most likely move to smaller/hybrid SUVs.
Well, as the Cascada’s sun sinks slowly In the west, I still have to wonder about the wisdom that encouraged GM to …
– sink big money into two C+ Super Bowl Cascada commercials, featuring
– two ‘A’ list female models, and – more questionably …
– two NFL ‘stars’ … the unpredictable Odell Beckham Jr., and – now – the suddenly radioactive Cam Newton.
Extremely expensive media buys and productions, for a dwindling, uncertain-future novelty car, whose buyers – I’m guessing – are largely female.
Makes you wonder who’s calling the shots and how wisely – I guess you can’t predict the Cam Newton thing (other sponsors are dropping him as we speak) … I get the whole ‘get ’em into the showroom’ thing, but two big money SB commercials with no shelf life, and a Kimmy Schmidt on-line disaster …
I guess that’s why Duncan shuffled the former Buick marketing leads (Tony D and another) off to Dubai and beyond.
The car’s ok – but if you crunched the numbers, Buick’s successful 3 SUV/CUV lineup can make up for a lot of ills. I’d guess (or hope) Buick has pulled the Cam Newton stuff from the Buick Channel, if they haven’t already.
Well, at least Buick is one marque that dared greatly.
