The 2017 SEMA show will arrive a tad earlier this year and opens on October 31, 2017. With the show right around the corner, we know Chevrolet plans for a plethora of show cars, and we want you all to sound off. What do you want to see from Chevrolet at the show?
With Chevrolet’s centennial truck celebrations ongoing, we’d expect some of the exposure to focus on Silverado and Colorado. We already know the brand will bring a custom 1967 C-10 with centennial-inspired design and the Colorado ZR2 Dusk and Midnight Editions. Outside of that, we don’t know what the brand has in store.
In previous years, the sixth-generation Camaro has stolen the show with a variety of custom builds, concepts and special editions. Even the Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu have been shown some love. It’s safe to say we’ll see more from the Camaro, but otherwise, we’re in the dark.
So, sound off in the comment section below with what you’d like to see. And be sure to follow GM Authority as we bring you the latest from the show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I’d love to see some Impalas, but the chance is none to zero.
How about an Impala SS with the 3.0 TT and Malibu’s and Cruze’s with real performance enhancements not jus paint and graphics.
It would be amazing to see a silverado ZR2 concept honestly
Put heads up in the Silverado’s
and bring back the extended cab!!!
Heads up display would be nice. According to their web site they still offer the extended cab.
Its now called the double cab.
The extended cab sucks compared to the present day double cab. I had an extended cab for years and it sucked dropping kids off at activities and having to open the front doors all the time.
The Colorado still has extended cab. Most likely not going to go with double can like the Silverado. would be nice if it would open 180 degrees like they had on the Silverado at one point.
SEMA is always a frustrating show because almost nothing that is shown there end up introduction. Where is the Chevrolet Cheyanne Concept from 2014. It was awesome 6.2L powered street truck that looked mean and production ready then, ….crickets. Link: http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2013/11/2014-chevrolet-silverado-cheyenne-concept-first-look-video-2013-sema-show.html To answer the question; I’d really like to see a US version of the overseas Colorado based Trailblazer. ZR2 trim please! I think there is a real need for Off-Road Truck capabilities in a package that is smaller than a Tahoe. Just like the Colorado is for those who don’t want Silverado size.
1. A 2.0 Turbo in a Cruze or Sonic… ready for production.
2. Impala SS… 3.6 TT
3. ZR1 Corvette (I know it is probably coming in Detroit, but it would be cool to see).
What I actually expect… a bunch of special paint, tape stripe stuff with performance exhaust. It hasn’t always been this way at SEMA, but it has been lately.
The comment was already made earlier in this section but i’m going to go in a little deeper of what I would like to see from General Motors. Truthfully, alot of SEMA builds never go into production so i’m just going to list a few wants that i want from GM.
Buick: Kill it with fire and brimstone, the whole thing just destroy it. End of story. Done!
Chevrolet: first lets start with the things that NEED TO BE DESTROYED!!!! Destroy the Spark, the Sonic, the Cruze, the trax, the equinox and the traverse. Now that we’ve gotten all of that out of the way, we can start on what needs to be fixed
1.) Malibu: Good car, needs work. Now this is hard for me to say but I’m going to say it anyway. If GM is going to retire the great Impala, then the Malibu needs to get a lot healthier. For starters, the Malibu should move to a RWD-based AWD setup on the Alpha chassis and three engines need to be offered on this car. The first engine should be the 2.0T the second should be the 335hp 3.6L from the V6 camaro and lastly the 420hp 3.6L TT engine from the Cadillac V-Sport series. All of these should be connected to the new 10-speed automatic transmission with the GKN e-Twinster-X hybrid performance AWD system, Brembo brakes on the V6 and V6-TT models, a sport tuned dual exhaust system on the V6 and V6-TT models, Magnetic ride on the V6 and V6-TT models, 16″ wheels on the base 4-cylinder model, 20″ wheels on the V6 and V6-TT models, an evolutionary exterior design, an integrated rear deck lid spoiler & an aerodynamics package on the V6 and V6-TT models, a sport trim interior with recaro seating, alcantara and leather upholstery in the V6 & V6-TT models, a cloth interior on the base 4-cylinder with upgraded vinyl seating options on the base model & a premium stereo and navigation system on the V6 & V6-TT models.
2.) Camaro: Beyond doing something to make the trunk equal to that of the Mustang and improving visibility by making the A-pillars not as thick and maybe changing the dash to something more 1970-style on the drivers side since the rest of the dash is really sexy, Chevy needs to drop the four-cylinder, it’s pointless. Upgrade the 3.6L to 350hp and 340lb-ft of torque with the 10-speed auto and a new 7-speed manual behind it, continue on with the V6-1LE package, and add a berlinetta package above the RS package to make it more luxurious. Like a Buick-level interior on a Camaro (silent glass, more sound insulation, thicker, more comfortable seating, softer colors, a more “premium-style” (B&O or Bose) stereo system and navigation and stuff like that). The SS needs 475hp and 475lb ft of torque from the 6.2L (not much of a problem to remap the ECU and do direct & Port injection), the 10-speed automatic, a 7-speed manual, continue with the SS-1LE and the 1LE handling package for the 2SS, a Rockford fosgate factory stereo system with an updated navigation system and more retro colors. As for the new Z/28, this needs to be a 530hp 5.0L V8 that revs to at least 7800RPMS so DOHC LT-series V8 needs to happen with both a 10-speed auto and a 7-speed manual. there should be a more race ready Z/28R and a more street friendly Z/28 so that anyone who wants a Z/28 for whatever reason can experience it. The car needs to have a Z/28 specific interior, a taller duckbill spoiler, added down force but still have more of a “focused & Sharpened SS” look than a wild ZL1 look. lastly the ZL1. The car is perfect, let it be until you find a worthwhile reason to change it. Also the Chevy bowties need to disappear from Camaro, The Camaro Tri-bar needs to be in the grille and on the steering wheel and the fenders need to have either the Tri-bar for the V6, the SS emblems for the SS and the Z/28 emblems for the Z/28. The ZL1 is the only one that should have a black and red bowtie emblem up front and on the trunk but the steering wheel should say ZL1 on it.
Now we move onto the SUV section
1.) THE CHEVY BLAZER: GM listen to me, if you’re going to bring back an Icon, please do it right. Do not make Ford’s mistakes. Do it right please!!!! You are our last hope! The Blazer needs to be on the same chassis as the Colorado and it needs to be the kind of do-all mini-SUV it used to be before it died. There needs to be a street-sport Xtreme Blazer but this one needs to have the cool points of a 455hp 3.6L Twin turbo under the hood with a 10-speed auto, AWD with a beefier GKN Twinster AWD system designed for a truck based-platform, dual exhaust, Brembo brakes, magnetic ride, a tricked out interior, extended cab style doors so it’s a little more practical than a two-door and sporty 20″ wheels wrapped in performance all season tires. Above that there should be the Blazer ZR2 which should be like the Colorado ZR2 but in SUV form. Oh yeah that should definitely have the twin turbo 3.6L V6 and the 10-speed auto behind it but with 4×4 instead of all wheel drive along with a 3.0L Duramax Turbo diesel. Then of course there should be the regular pedestrian Blazer with a 2.0T Turbo I-4 with a 4×4 and 4×2 option.
Tahoe: Getting better, keep going in the direction that you’re heading. There does need to be a Tahoe GT though. Even if it’s not a 2-door it needs to spin off of the Z71 midnight Tahoe but a bit grittier. a throatier exhaust and a 6.2L is a must along with a more rugged looking wheel design, a 10-speed automatic and 4WD, Brembo brakes, add an optional 3.0L Duramax turbo diesel with an Allison transmission & Dana axles front and rear and you’ve got yourself a real SUV full size SUV. for the more pedestrian variants, the 5.3L with the 10-speed will do nicely with an AWD system, magnetic ride and things like that.
Suburban: This thing needs the Duramax Diesel V8 and to move to the HD-chassis of the silverado and it definitely needs a badder Z71 with a new Allison transmission and Dana axles with Brembo HD brakes with 6 and 8-lug wheels but still be modern and sophisticated on the inside but still tough enough to tackle camping, hunting and fishing trips.
3.) Chevy trucks
Colorado: drop the name and bring back the S10 pickup. Keep the current body but make it look better. As mentioned for the Blazer, there needs to be an Xtreme and a XR2 package and both need the 455hp 3.6L twin turbo.
Silverado 1500: Needs an SS variant badly. Chevy should always have a blacked out bad boy pickup truck with a 6.2L V8 that pushes 475hp and 475tq, the 10-speed auto, a selectable AWD system, black bowties with red outlines, Rally wheels, wide tires, big brembo brakes, shorty header-style tri-y exhaust manifolds, factory Borla dual exhaust with quad tips that exit before the rear tires, Extended cab and quad cab variants with hard tonneau covers, magnetic ride, lowered suspension, cloth interiors with either black hounds-tooth or red hounds-tooth interiors, a powerful stereo system, a low cowl hood and privacy glass just to seal the deal. Of course we also need a Raptor fighting ZL1 LT4 powered off road Z71-Extreme pickup truck, a 5.3L powered work truck with an optional 3.0L Duramax Turbo 6-cylinder diesel, and the luxurious High Desert-High Country pickup as well.
Silverado HD: leave perfection alone!
Corvette: Should honestly leave the Chevrolet fold and be placed up with Cadillac and it should be allowed to evolve into a better sports car. I still believe in the pushrod V8 in both N/A and Supercharged form, but i could also see this getting a flat plane crank twin turbo, DOHC mid-engine variant as well and it would be perfectly fine as that engine could power the mid-engine, GKN E-Twinster-X hybrid AWD equipped ZR1 with a ground breaking DCT while the other variants of Corvette be front engine, RWD cars.
Going into Cadillac, I would love to finally see Cadillac come of its own and begin to develop more “world class” sports and luxury cars. The Alpha and Omega chassis have proven themselves to be great chassis and i think Cadillac would do itself justice to continue on with both chassis but i could see a lot of changes going into Cadillac. I could see Cadillac producing it’s lineup of smaller displacement DOHC twin turbo flat plane crank V8 engines with dual-injection technology in the next few years with 600+ horsepower being not out of the question and with 10-speed automatics, the GKN AWD systems, high performance Brembo brakes, hotter twin turbo V6 cars pushing 500hp in coupes, sedans and wagons (Shooting brakes) and even some more capable SUVs such as a Colorado based SUV that would sit right beneath the Escalade and a more dynamic version of the Escalade. I think Cadillac could easily best companies such as BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Land Rover and maybe even combat the likes of Porsche and people would be willing to own these vehicles at prices that are still premium and aggressively competitive to the European market (maybe $5K to 10K cheaper depending on the model)
lastly we get to GMC. GMC is an awesome segment because it can fill the gap on SUVs and trucks between Chevrolet and Cadillac and completely render Buick about as useless as an eardrum on your elbow. They are also Amazing as a strong work truck for the person or company who demands reliability and a premium grade of tough. But just the same, GMC has a luxurious and gentle side that also shines in the department of safety and security with street credit as well. The only things i’d change about the GMC lineup is in their SUV brands. I would bring back the GMC Jimmy as an upscale version of the Blazer, I’d bring back the GMC Sonoma name and drop the name Canyon in a Canyon and I’d drop the Terrain and Acadia. Other than that I’d make the Yukon XL the diesel-toting 2500 variant SUV and go from there.
As cool as many of the things you’re saying may be, most to none will ever happen. The trax, equinox, and traverse are never going to leave because of the crossover craze. Solid front axles in the trucks and Suvs have been gone since 91. At this point I’m really doubtful that they are bringing them back 25+ years later.
yeah but it would be nice if they did. Oh well. Wishful thinking anyway
If none of the above happen, we can at least console ourselves with a two-tone Traverse with a paddle-board on top.
Whoop the freking dooo. lol
the bad part about it is that there is no reason vehicles like this shouldn’t still exist.
A Silverado anniv edition that’s lowered like the 67 .
