This is not a healthy company. Increasing fleet sales by 62 percent only resulted in an overall sales increase of one percent? That’s not good. A quarter of all Cadillacs sold are non-retail sales and most likely being dumped into daily rental fleets. Everyone knows that kills future resale values which then prevents a brand from offering competitive lease rates compounding the damage by inhibiting future sales.
Cadillac is in a death spiral and I question how long GM’s Board of Directors is going to continue to dump money into the dry well that they’ve become. All of JdN & Co’s grandiose ideas like ferrying rich folks in helicopters to the Hamptons or holding fashion shows at The House simply aren’t resulting in sales. I’ve never known GM’s Board to put up with unprofitable products for long. They don’t care about halos or image vehicles or even history. GM only cares about products that make money.
I won’t be surprised if Cadillac gets axed in the same fashion as Oldsmobile and that’ll be a very sad day for America. Like Cadillac, Oldsmobile was in the midst of an expensive turnaround plan that wasn’t bearing much fruit and the bean counters seeing more years of investment and red ink finally said ‘no more’, it’s over. Unfortunately, I think it would be foolish to expect those same bean counters to make a different decision this time.
What is it with people not realizing new product (namely crossovers) are on the horizon? Stop being a doomsday prophet
Things at Cadillac are horrific because if it wasn’t for the XT5 CUV which saw an increase of 58.46 percent to 7,302 units in September, the overall performance sales numbers for Cadillac are horrific as this has to be telling GM CEO Mary Barra and the Board of Directors that new leadership is necessary because Cadillac sales in the United States is in a death spiral as the only thing that is keeping Cadillac afloat is the sales performance of Cadillac of China.
Have you stopped to think for one second that there is a plan in place that you are not aware of… or rather a plan that you should actually be aware of but do not have the patience nor the foresight to see through?
Have you stopped to think for one second that any plan that includes running the current company completely into the ground is not a good plan? Quality begins as an attitude, it comes from the top. There is no excuse why any GM brand should come in 27th place (last) in reliability, let alone Cadillac. Don’t repeat your tired old story that JdN has nothing to do with current products, if he doesn’t then who does?
