The GM Authority Take
The CT6’s 27 percent sales drop in September is roughly in line with the sales performance of the segment as a whole.
The performance places the CT6 in second place in its competitive set in terms of overall sales volume, behind the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (down 26.88 percent to 1,053 units) and barely ahead of the BMW 7 Series (down 22.15 percent to 935 units), Lexus LS (up 22 percent to 432 units) – which is the newest model in the segment, as well as the Audi A8 (down 18 percent to 276 units) and Genesis G90 (369 units).
We attribute the decreased CT6 sales performance during September to the ongoing shift in consumer buying dynamics that favors crossover utility vehicles at the expense of other vehicle types like sedans and hatchbacks.

It also slots above the XTS which wasn’t mentioned , which has been selling better than the CT6 .
Sales of the S-Class could be down because for MY 18 it gets a refresh .
Now that the XTS looks like the CT6 from the front and has what I think is a better looking rear clip ( esp. the tail lamps ) just might outsell the more expensive big brother .
Like it or not people still do appreciate a softer ride vs. the BMW like suspension you get in the CT6 , even with the MRC it is still a harsher ride .
I happen to like the CT6 , but if this is to be Cadillacs top tier model they need to address some things on the interior . Sharing door handles with other cars and switch gear for windows that come from GM’s substantial parts bin just isn’t going to attract some buyers that notice such things .
Some journalists have even given the mixture of materials inside to be a bit much ,and want to see less . But that is a personal preference that differs from one reviewer to the next .
I also like the XTS , always have as this was just a fast replacement for the STS and DTS which I did not like .
Why do people care about where Cadillac gets their parts from? Using the GM parts bin is a good thing
