Although a lot of news surrounds Cadillac in China and the United States, Canada is actually one of the brand’s fastest-growing markets as well. It doesn’t deliver China-like volumes, but its growth is important nonetheless.
With growth comes investment, and Carter Cadillac will be the first Western-Canada dealership to build a brand-exclusive dealer. Carter Cadillac, situated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is currently part of other GM brands, but the new dealership will be a standalone store and adhere to the brand’s latest corporate-image program, in Canada and across North America.
“We believe in the entrepreneurial spirit of Calgary, and this investment confirms our tremendous confidence in the city’s great future,” explains Jay McKeen, managing partner, Carter Cadillac. “We’ve noticed an increased interest in luxury vehicles in the west and Calgary is the highest volume market for Cadillac in Western Canada, which makes it the perfect location for this new dealership.”
When completed, Carter Cadillac will span 50,000 square-feet and feature two levels. The second floor will house a showroom for Cadillac V-series cars and feature a rotation of vintage Cadillac vehicles.
The dealership is under construction now and 2018 is a tentative completion date.

It is because of all the Chinese in Canada…Still “China” effect.
Too bad the architect used old Cadillac models in that “new concept” rendering….Details, details. Something Cadillac is still lacking.
How’s that self-investigation going on at your local pizza store, J? What about Elvis, you know where he’s holed up? I bet you know it was Hillary on that grassy knoll, right?
Er, there’s wayyyyyy more Americans in China than Chinese in Canada. 110,000 US citizens resident in China right now. Maybe the Chinese should use Trump’s religious immigration laws to stop American geebus freaks from immigrating there?
It sounds like you think the entire continued existence of Caddy is simply Barra’s sop to the Chinese. Wrong! Barra enjoys making money for America, apparently you don’t. Apparently you only want Americans to make profits off other Americans, and making profits off non-Americans and bringing that money here is just “virtue-signaling” to you.
The only person sopping to the Chinese is Ivanka, because her daddy said she could. And none of her money is coming to you, J.
Trump does not have religious immigration laws. Watching too much. If you would actually read the policies, a select few countries who have been sending us terrorists and not taking back their criminals that are deported are on the not visa list.
Vegas, Del Ray Baseball Park, Sandy Hook, Columbine, yeah! Trump should definitely ban those immigrants. Where they from?
Open one or two in the US?
Calgary has some oil money and ranch/farm/second home in Lake Louise $.
Vancouver is the Chinese-heavy city; the Chinese underwrote a Trump Hotel there, but back to the point:
not sure where the best US locations would be – maybe Jersey? A short comp limo (or chopper ride) from Cadillac Soho house; Westchester Cty? Chicago? I dunno, but nice to have a flagship store or two…
The headline (“Cadillac Breaks Ground On First Brand-Exclusive Dealership In North America”) is misleading. It would be more accurate to say something like, “Canadian Dealer Breaks Ground on Standalone Cadillac Dealership”.
It’s nice to see that they’ll be rotating a series of classic Cadillacs through this new new dealership. While they certainly don’t want to come off as antiquated, I think many customers don’t recognize or appreciate Cadillac’s rich heritage.
I hope we’ll see some standalone Cadillac dealers in the U.S. once they have the product line to support them (i.e. more of those “minivans with doors” that are all the rage). In the meantime, hopefully the Project Pinnacle efforts will be a step in the right direction to help retain existing customers—and attract new ones.
How is this misleading? Your suggestion is definitely more accurate, but the headline is not misleading as Canada is still, to the best of my knowledge, part of North America.
Yes, Canada is part of North America, the continent.
I think a stand alone dealership in Calgary may not be as succesfull as one in Edmonton. Calgary’s status as power house is significantly damaged from the last oil price crash and I cannot see it recovering soon. At any rate there are way to many car dealerships in Alberta. But good luck to them.
I’m confused. In North and central Fl, where Im at, all of the cadillac dealerships are standalone.
This article seems to be a bit hyperbolic . This is nothing new for Cadillac or any other dealership from just a few years ago .
In my hometown there was only one Cadillac dealership and sold Cadillac’s exclusively . And I know in the Detroit area it was the same .
But now there seems to have been a takeover from this mega-dealership company that has combined brands and in my case the Cadillac dealership also now sells Hyundai’s . So now they have CT6’s parked right next to G90’s and XT5’s side right next to the Hyundai SUV’s .
Back in the 1970’s thru 1990’s every GM brand had it’s own dealership , at one time we had three Oldsmobile dealerships because this was Oldsmobile town and this is where their headquarters were once located .
I think that GM should go back to that exclusive GM brand dealerships .
What happen here? I thought GM & Cadillac had a mandated architectural look for dealerships. GM forced dealers to spend millions to have each brand have a separate image so the customer can relate to. Must have been a bad plan.
What is the definition of standalone?
In San Antonio the two Cadillac dealers sell only Cadillacs at their Cadillac stores.
1st stand alone Cadillac dealer in Canada.
They were for years Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac (competing with Pontiac-Buick-GMC), and now there are Chevrolet-Cadillac, or Buick-GMC-Cadillac, or Chevrolet-Buick-GMC-Cadillac. There are stand alone Chevrolet dealers in Canada, Buick-GMC and also Chevrolet-Buick-GMC. And not all Chevy dealers can sell Corvettes.
Confused yet?
