Car and Driver’s 11th Lightning Lap test has officially been wrapped but we’re still digesting the results from a crop of sports cars and supercars that only continue to strengthen their performance credentials.
An undeniable star of the show was the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, which placed second overall, just behind the Mercedes-AMG GT R. In fact, the Camaro ZL1 1LE outgunned every other car in its price class and even smoked some cars a tier above it. The Camaro ZL1 1LE was quicker than a 911 Turbo S, Nissan GT-R Track Edition and an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio to name a few.
With a 2:45.7 lap time, the Camaro ZL1 1LE was seriously quick around Virginia International Raceway, evidenced by the incredibly fast speeds clocked during portions of the raceway.
Without further ado, check out the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE’s lap in the video above.

GM created the pinnacle of track cars that also doubles as a street legal, pavement pounder. A $70k car that outguns most other cars costing 2-3 times as much…FABULOUS!
