A high-performance sportscar isn’t worth a darn without the ability to stop safely and reliably. So if you’re looking to upgrade the stopping power of your Chevrolet C5 or C6 Corvette, then this newly-configured competition Wilwood front brake package for 1997-2013 Corvette models may be of interest to you.
With a $1,869 MSRP, this kit is by no means cheap, and it costs a heck of a lot more than the “premium” quality pads from your local auto parts retailer. Heck, it’s even more expensive than some of the cheaper C4 Corvettes we’ve seen for sale on Craigslist. Nonetheless, it isn’t exactly wise to cheap out on the equipment tasked with hauling your prized investment to a stop before it smacks full-force into the tire wall.
The kit is comprised of: black anodized Aerolite 6R radial-mount calipers, equipped with stainless steel pistons and internal damping springs, allowing for a wider 20mm thick brake pad; 14-inch-diameter two-piece rotor assemblies featuring Spec37 alloy; weight-saving aluminum hats to mount the SV-GT directional vane competition rotors to the OE hubs; and BP-40 compound SmartPads.
In addition, each kit includes mounting brackets, hardware, and a detailed installation guide. If you plan to purchase this kit for your Corvette, you should first make sure it’s compatible with the wheels you have as it was designed to work with 18-inch wheels. You’ll need to order brake lines from Wilwood, as well.
