Modern Pontiac Firebird Rendering Is A Sinister Take On Retro Design

No, Pontiac is not coming back from the dead, nor will it ever under General Motors. However, that hasn’t stopped creative minds from around the world to imagine what its cars could look like if it were still around today. A reborn Pontiac Firebird is often a good place to start.

This rendering from Circassian designer Kasim Tlibekov is a wild take on the Firebird and molds traditional retro design with plenty of modern cues. The front end vividly evokes the shape of vintage Firebirds found up until its third-generation. The hideaway headlights also seem to be a nod to the Firebird’s big brother, the GTO.

Formally called the Pontiac Firebird TT, which stands for “2010,” when the rendering was done, it also houses plenty of race-ready cues. Imagine a retro racer with power from a Camaro ZL1 1LE and this is what we’d likely get. The rear features a massive spoiler and rear-window louvers also kick up the nostalgia factor.

Tlibekov doesn’t imagine what would be power his reincarnation of the Firebird, but GM’s 6.2-liter LT4 supercharged V8 engine doesn’t seem like a bad place to start.

We’ll have to simply admire artists’ renditions or peruse local car shows to get our fix of Pontiac Firebirds. Pontiac is gone, but its vehicles have hardly been erased from enthusiasts’ memories.

  1. The car is really pretty, I would have bought it with the 640 hp engine, today! Maybe call it the Cadillac Firebird.

  2. This car looks with it still needs a couple of nips and tucks before being ready for prime time and if you ask some people, they would prefer the styling cues of the 2017 Bandit Trans Am.

  3. Yeah, ummm NO. This thing is a hot mess. Not a thing on this evokes a Firebird of any generation.

Now as some type of fantasy video game muscle? Sure, I’ll run from cops or crash into everything on the road all day with this!

  4. I like the looks of this thing, but it looks like it can’t decide if it wants to be a GTO or a F/B. The 1000 hp trans am SD455 looks nice but its too OP. Maybe a 3.0TT F/B, 6.6L (bored out or upstroked LT1) esprit, 455 (” “) trans am, LT5 superbird, and track focused formula. The GTO would look great as a 2 door chevy ss thing with split grill, no chrome and angrier headlights.

    Fiero?
