If you’re sitting there thinking to yourself, “what the heck’s a Toyota Troopy?” then you probably aren’t bothered by the fact that this particular FJ45 Troopy Toyota Land Cruiser features a Chevy LS V-8 under the hood. Troopy die-hard purists, however, will shake their heads in disgust. Though to be fair, there’s no one to supply purists with Toyota crate engines.
Right quick: a FJ45 Troopy is a Toyota Land Cruiser that was built for carrying troops, but has since then taken on quite the following of its own. The closest thing in the GM world would be something like the HMMWV built for the military, and then brought to consumers as the Hummer H1.
When we highlighted the LS2-swapped Land Cruiser a while back, we saw varying reactions to the vehicle: some were opposed to the swap while others professed to care more about the Land Cruiser itself and less about the engine that was under the hood. Considering how much more exclusive this Troopy is, we expect the reaction to be similar this time around.
That said, watch the quick 4-minute clip for yourself, then give us your thoughts on the LS-swapped Troopy in the comment section below.
