Previously, we provided video of a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 attempting to chase down a Ford GT at Mid-Ohio. The video claimed it was the first time both drivers had taken to the track in their new rides. Now, we have a Camaro ZL1 attempting to do the same thing, but this time, a Dodge Viper ACR is its target.
Once again, we’re taken back to Mid-Ohio as this 2017 Camaro ZL1 gives all its got to hunt down the Viper ACR. While the ZL1 found success against the Ford GT, the Viper ACR proves a more difficult match. It should be noted we don’t think the Ford GT driver was truly pushing the limits in the older video. Professional drivers would make all the difference.
The Viper ACR’s superior grip, aerodynamics and downforce prove no match for the incredibly-potent 2017 Camaro ZL1. In terms of horsepower, the cars are pretty well matched, though. The 2017 Camaro ZL1 produces 650 hp and 650 pound-feet of torque. The Viper ACR puts down 645 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque.
Though, any racer knows it’s not all about raw numbers. The Viper ACR is proof positive of this. Check out the video above.

Looked like the ACR was able to pull away in the really tight parts of the track. Both drivers look to be pushing really hard.
Viper is lighter and has serious aero. Not surprised by this at all. This is also not a 1LE ZL1.
Chase down?!?!? The ACR is pulling away after having to pass another car…
