General Motors is said to be looking expand its lineup in Russia, having pulled out of the mainstream vehicle segments in the country in 2015. And now, we have some actual numbers to put on The General’s operations in the country.
Specifically, Chevrolet sales totaled 14,889 vehicles in the fist six months of 2017, a slight increase of 0.7 percent from the same time frame a year ago. Those figures come from a lineup that consists of three high-end vehicles — the Chevrolet Tahoe, Camaro and Corvette.
According to the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade statistics, as reported by WardsAuto, Camaro sales totaled 130 units in the first five months of 2017, representing the model’s best performance since the nameplate’s launch in Russia in 2012.
Next up, GM plans to introduce the all-new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse in the country. The move is a first for GM and for Chevrolet, as the Traverse nameplate has never been sold in Russia — a market that is extremely hungry for crossovers and SUVs.
General Motors operates nearly 100 dealerships in Russia, and plans to expand its network. The company also has a large warehouse in the Moscow area where GM vehicles are serviced.
Stay tuned to GM Authority as we cover The General’s reported expansion in the Russian market, and for more GM news.

From what we see is they are targeting the most profitable models for the most part for export.
Also they are imported models as to not risk investment in in country plants.
If things politically go bad they are just out some inventory and sales locations.
something about 1.8% market share…..
