Was there any doubt Rick Hendrick, Team Chevy NASCAR team owner, wouldn’t go home with the first 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE? The man has walked away from nearly every vehicle auction with VIN 001 of many Chevrolet performance vehicles.
Now, he’s officially added his latest toy to his collection and he even drove it off of the production line. Hendrick was present at the Lansing Grand River assembly plant—where the Camaro is built—to drive VIN 001 of 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE off of the production line. It’s the least General Motors can do after Hendrick spent $250,000 at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach to secure the right to own the first production car. Although, the entire hammer price benefited the United Way.
We’re sure VIN 001 is sitting cozily in Hendrick’s garage right now where it likely awaits further company. We have a feeling Hendrick would certainly like to place the first production C7 Corvette ZR1 in his collection as well.

OH to have a fraction of his money…..
I don’t think he’ll still be around when that car has appreciated over sticker price to the value he paid. But then again he probably doesn’t care two hoots – he has #1 of a Nurburgring top 10 production car.
I have one on order and nobody at GM or the dealership can tell me when or if I’ll ever see the car. I have heard the track package is holding up general production of the 750 units they are producing.
Anyone know what the straight story is? I have never experienced anything like this buying a new car. Wonder if the SRT Demon will be the same with regard to delivery.
Order a BMW and you are able to track every step of the production process of your car from the day they receive your order. Next time order a vehicle from a company that actually cares about their customers.
