Ace IndyCar driver Ryan Hunter-Reay will drive alongside Ricky and Jordan Taylor in the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R. at Petit Le Mans – the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season finale held at Road Atlanta. The 10-hour race is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 7th. Alex Lynn, who drove alongside the Taylor brothers at the 12 Hours of Sebring, has a scheduling conflict and won’t be able to join Wayne Taylor Racing for the event.
Hunter-Reay has driven alongside Ricky and Jordan Taylor before, at the 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona, where the team finished second. The No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing/Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R. currently leads in the championship by 26 points, having won five consecutive races, although with two rounds in the series left to go, victory isn’t guaranteed.
“We are certainly looking forward to having Ryan back with us,” says team owner Wayne Taylor. “I’ve always thought he’s one of the best American drivers out there and he’s enjoyed success with us before. He understands his job, which is to help Ricky and Jordan and the team secure the championship.
“He fits in very well,” Taylor continued. “Everyone on the team likes him and is very excited about working with him again. We’ll be testing with him Tuesday and Wednesday at Road Atlanta to start getting him acquainted with our new Cadillac, which should take no time at all.”
Ryan Hunter-Reay, 36, is an accomplished wheel man, having won the Indianapolis 500 in 2014, and the IndyCar championship two years prior. Outside of IndyCar, he’s had 33 North American sportscar racing starts with 9 podium finishes.
