The GM Authority Take

The Tahoe remained the leader of its segment in overall sales volume in July, beating its GMC-badge brother — the GMC Yukon, as well as the Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada, and Toyota Sequoia. However, the Tahoe’s 19.06 percent decrease in sales volume was faster than the segment’s 14.88 percent decrease. In addition, it’s worth noting that the Nissan Armada had a significant growth rate of over 300 percent, placing it ahead of the Toyota Sequoia and closer to the Ford Expedition in terms of overall sales volume.

What’s more, vehicles based on GM’s K2 truck platform — which the current-generation Chevy Tahoe rides on — are significant profit drivers for General Motors. As such, a drop in Tahoe deliveries could have a negative impact on GM earnings.
