The GM Authority Take

Following the Chevy Spark recall and subsequent stop-sale issued in May, the smallest Chevy car is back on sale, but the ongoing shift to crossovers over sedans, hatchbacks and coupes continues to impact the model’s sales volume. Even so, GM has a significant opportunity to sell the Spark in developing economies, including the Caribbean, Central and South America, and other markets. The automaker recently withdrew its Chevrolet brand from India, another market where vehicles like the Spark are in high demand.

About The Chevy Spark

2017 Chevrolet Spark Active 001

2017 Chevy Spark Activ

The Spark is the only vehicle in its segment in the U.S. Currently in its second generation, the current model was introduced for the 2016 model year. The vehicle received several updates and changes for the 2017 model year, one of which was the addition of the Spark Activ equipment group that gives the city car a slightly more rugged, crossover-like appearance along with a somewhat higher ride height. For the 2018 model year, the Spark sees only one change.
