As the Chinese government continues to encourage new-energy vehicles such as hybrids, plug-in vehicles and battery-electric cars, Cadillac has rolled out its first hybrid vehicle for the market.
The Cadillac XT5 Hybrid will launch in China will improved fuel efficiency and a nine-speed automatic transmission. The mid-size crossover benefits from a mild-hybrid system, which sips 2.1 gallons of fuel every 62 miles, and also recovers energy while braking.
The new nine-speed automatic transmission also specifically benefits the lower speed ranges to ensure smooth power delivery across the powerband. Start/stop is also standard with the Cadillac XT5 Hybrid.
The XT5 Hybrid was launched at the Chengdu Auto Show in China and both Hybrid trims—XT5 28E Platinum 4WD and 28E Advanced 4WD—will go on sale with identical price points to the trims it replaces: the XT5 28T Platinum 4WD and 28T Advanced 4WD.

This needs to come to N.A immediately!!
Really disapointing! Instead, a full-electric xt5 would be required…
So it barely gets 30mpg
Only 29.5 mpg!?!? Replace Barra!!!
1st ? Isn’t the plugin CT6 already there?
Car and Driver observed 23 mpg mileage for the 2017 Cadillac XT5; Cadillac’s XT5 Hybrid being capable of 62 miles on 2.1 gallons of gas or 29.52 mpg is fantastic as it means almost a 30-percent improvement in mileage and given Cadillac’s XT5 CUV has a curb weight of 4,334 lbs is very impressive, hopefully the Cadillac XT5 Hybrid will be available in the US soon.
What no plug-in? Is this 2005? Common guys you killed the ELR and even thought it’s been out all most a year my local Cadillac dealer still hasn’t seen a CT6 plug-in. Better get going GM or your going to loose a lot of us devoted plug-in customers.
Cadillac, bring that hybrid or a EREV XT5 to the U..S. market!
This is not really a surprise, I noticed that in the “efficiency” screen of the DIC, there is a battery icon that illuminates and tells you when its regenerating the car battery, I always knew a hybrid version was not too far away.
