Well I did my part in trying to boost Cadillac sales . Just bought a new Premium Luxury XT5 in Graphite Metallic AWD
w/ a black leather interior . Compared to my SRX this is by far a better vehicle . Also some folks complain about CUE but in the last few days I have found this one to be as fast as my laptop and fairly easy to use .
I also got a great price for the XT5 and because I am a fanatic about my vehicles , got more for my SRX than NADA .
The car industry is finally leveling off after 7 years of gains in the US , China the biggest market is still selling well . Depending on who you want to believe because their is alot of differing opinions in print right now , some believe that vehicle sales will continue to falter and could possibly be the thing that tips us into recession . That is the worst editorial out there , while others believe Toyota will overtake GM as the biggest automaker next year .
Cadillac I believe has missed out on the 17+ million per year sales gains with old product . When they do finally get their portfolio where they want the market will be in a slump . Timing is everything in this industry and Cadillac just didn’t see where the market was headed fast enough .
Short term Cadillac will be a drag on GM profits but if they get the right stuff to market for the long term thing may get better . A recent article claims that the new XT6 ( 7? ) will be a direct competitor to Volvos XC90 that will be interesting to see as the Volvo is a great Suv .
Cadillac defintely missed the mark the past few years. Interesting that all other GM brands got crossovers and Cadillac got none, if they had then Cadillac would be in a much better position that it is currently. Hopefully they stay committed and don’t faulter on plans to bring the brand back to former glory
Four sedans (ATS, CTS, XTS, CT6) = 2994 vs. 5185 one year earlier, drop of 42.3%, ouch. #rightdriveways
Functions as designed.
There’s an article which says General Motors overall sales are down 15.4-percent which means Cadillac’s poor performance was expected; although things should improve in the next 8-10 months when Cadillac introduces the new XT4 CUV and possibly the 7-seat XT7 because if the XT4 and XT7 sell as well as Cadillac’s current XT5 which sold 5,504 units for June 2017, Cadillac’s overall sales numbers for July 2018 will look better.
With al, the turn over in management and complete turn around of their portfolio being done GM expected this. They also do not plan to invest in the lame duck models.
Also keep in mind the drop here is in reality a small number of cars. 21% of a low volume brand is not like 21 % at Chevy.
The bottom line is globally they continue to expand and they are still making money. With many new cohesive models on the way.
I feel bad about XTS sales, but at the same time, it is not advertised and dealers never keep any in stock.
Its surprising to see that the CT6 was the best selling sedan, but it could have something to do with the hefty discounts ($3,000+).
As much as I love Cadillac, they do not deserve to have the highest ATP in the luxury market. Sorry but people are paying way too much for these cars and the money is just going towards BS like free helicopter rides, coffee shops, and fashion shows.
My daily driver is a 2016 C450 AMG sport, I just test drove BMW 340 with the M power kit and exhaust. I also drove a ATS 3.6. There is absolutely no reason (other than price) to buy the ATS over these 2 Germans.
