Cadillac Debuts Super Cruise Self-Driving Technology With New ‘Let Go’ Ad Spot: Video

Cadillac, and all of General Motors, is preparing for its first foray into the world of self-driving technology with Super Cruise. As the launch for the technology draws near, GM’s luxury division took to the MTV Awards to debut its all-new advertisement, which showcases the technology in action.

In a clever bit, the viewer is drawn into the ad where a couple seems to be having an engaged discussion as they drive along in a Cadillac CT6. Then, it becomes clear the woman is using sign language to communicate with the driver. As Super Cruise gives the OK for the driver to engage the system, he is then able to turn to the woman and converse with her in sign language. It truly is a clever way to show the benefits of hands-free driving.

Super Cruise allows for hands-free driving in freeway driving only and will not work on local streets. The technology also monitors drivers’ behavior and will warn the driver to retake total control of the car if it believes the driver hasn’t been paying attention. If audible alerts are ignored, Super Cruise is able to bring the car to a controlled stop and call OnStar for additional assistance.

Have a look at the debut at for yourself in the video above.

  1. There are very good parts to SC, however stopping the car on the road is not one of them. I think that will leave GM open to major law suits.

  2. my 2014 Cadillac CTS has all the hardware ( camera, electric steering ) to do Super Cruise, the same way that Tesla does. When am I going to get my software upgrade to get Super Cruise?

  3. All I’m looking for is adaptive cruise that has been available in Ford Lincoln since 2010. When is this one feature ever going to be available in most of the better General Products such as the Buick? That’s why I have not driven a General Motor vehicle for the last several years. Cadillac is okay but expensive to own, operate and especially repair. I have a GM Credit card but refuse to use it on a vehicle that I would not be happy with.
