The 2017 Opel Insignia is on sale across Europe, but Opel has reminded consumers at large it doesn’t take a massive vehicle to tow precious cargo.
The 2017 Opel Insignia Sports Tourer is capable of towing 2,200 kilograms (4,850 pounds) with an available tow hook. Not only does the tow hook provide the capability, but it also activates a few helpful features. Safety is enhanced with the trailer stability program, which allows the Insignia Sports Tourer’s stability control to detect unwanted movement. From there, the car is decelerated and the brakes are applied to regain stability.
The 4,850-pound towing figure—which actually outdoes the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox—applies to models equipped with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine.
Opel also offers a rear-backup camera and a 360-degree camera to further increase safe towing procedures.
Any chance that the 2018 Regal Tourx has a similar tow rating? I hope so, because we need cars that can tow trailers too. Not everyone wants to have to buy an SUV or truck to tow something.
The 2018 Regal TourX is perfect for medium size trailers and caravans towing!
Cars can tow trailers and caravans very well. The trailer load is usually 2.2 tonnes. Medium SUVs with 4×4 can often be 2.5To. Braked trailers towing drink plenty of gasoline or diesel. In Germany trailers with “own brake” are required. The weight of the car and the trailer is decisive for the trailer load. Top speed is 100km / h. Trailers without their own brakes are also possible, but the trailers are usually only 750kg. I currently drive an OPEL Corsa C 1.0 with 400kg trailer load unbraked. This is enough for small transports because the trailer is only 120kg heavy, the load is thus 280kg. Heavy material such as stones, sand and earth brings the big truck once a year. So it is in Germany / Bavaria.
Info: I do not have a boat, therefore also the small OPEL Corsa 1.0 …
Out does the GMC Acadia at 4000# towing too.
I bought Insignia grand sport to use like limusine not like a truck
Of caure everyone Can use it how he likes
But one doesn’t need a truck to tow a trailer.
Any car can do.
Depends on trailer weight.
Is it possible to remove the ugly plastic trim that is around the wheel wells
The ugly plastic trim around the wheel wells prevents rock chips and rust, one of the reasons that the current Sierra is a better buy than the Silverado.
Currently, the Buick is sold as a TourX with the plastic body kit, since offroad look is important for many customers. USA and wagons are currently rare, but GM wants to re-sell sports cars based on regular cars. The USA customer decides whether these cars are wanted. I like these cars, as nicer and more economical as SUVs.
Info: In Europe and Germany, the Buick Regal TourX is also sold as a normal OPEL Insignia Sportstourer without a body kit. See at http://www.opel.com/cars/insignia/sports-tourer/uebersicht.html.
The price is, incidentally, taxes included. The engines are smaller and diesel you can buy. Of course, there are still six manual gearboxes. Hopefully for a long time …

This is a slight mis-understanding.
The “Country Tourer”, which corresponds to the Buick Regal Tour-X does not only have the this “plastic body kit”, as you call it, but is also 2 cm higher than the regular station wagon. I can’t remember if there are other differences.
