Watch This Cadillac CTS-V Pull On A Modified BMW M3: Video

Full disclosure: we’re fairly certain the driver of this modified BMW M3 accidentally skips a gear (listen closely at 0:30), despite the fact that the car is equipped with a dual-clutch transmission.

If it were a clean run, however, the JB4-tuned M3 would have more than likely bested the burlier third-generation Cadillac CTS-V with its supercharged 6.2L LT4 V-8, as the German compact sedan weighs in at about 3,540 pounds with roughly 550 horsepower, while the American midsize sedan weighs 4,140 pounds with 640 horsepower.

We imagine that the M3’s weight advantage would be even more profound from a standstill, and with a more experienced driver… though there is something to be said of the CTS-V‘s supercharged V-8 power, compared to the Bimmer’s twin-turbo inline-6 setup.

For the time being, we’ll let the CTS-V enjoy this victory, even if it could be considered asterisked.

  1. Looks to me like the BMW jumped the start and the CTS-V was gaining ground when the short shift occurred!

  2. I’m pretty sure the Bimmer is a twin turbo 3.0 straight 6.

    1. You’re absolutely correct – I should’ve had a V8 (see what I did there?) *full disclosure, it wasn’t me*
