On Father’s Day last month, one dad in Kentucky was given a particularly magnificent surprise by his family: a black, 2006 Chevrolet Corvette coupe. The recipient, one Randy Head, was left nearly speechless by the gesture as his son Ben recorded the big reveal in the Head family’s garage.
Like many folks, Mr. Head decided to move away from sportscar ownership sometime after he became a father; he’d owned several Corvettes throughout his life, according to a National Corvette Museum blog post, and reportedly said he’d like to own another when the time was right. “Dad always would say he wanted a Corvette to be he and mom’s travel car, but he never made time to buy it,” Ben Head says.
So, Ben decided to take matters into his own hands, buying a black C6 Corvette and having deliver it to his father in time for the holiday. “Dad didn’t know I was coming in for Father’s Day weekend, and mom hid the car in the garage,” Ben says, having successfully kept the gift a secret from his father Randy.
You can watch Randy Head’s priceless reaction in the video above, although be warned: he uses some rather, erm, “enthusiastic” language.
