Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) may not be long for this world as we know it. New rumors suggest HSV is preparing to be rebranded as Walkinshaw for the 2018 model year.
According to Car Advice, three local dealerships confirmed the rumor that the HSV name will be dropped and Walkinshaw will be put in its place. The rebranding may be essential for the company to continue modifying vehicles that aren’t exclusively Holden Commodore based—in fact, the first post-Holden manufacturing vehicle to arrive is tipped to be a hopped up Holden Colorado.
HSV has sent the locally-produced, rear-wheel-drive Holden Commodore out with a bang after revealing the 6.2-liter LS9 supercharged V8-powered GTSR W1.
Walkinshaw may move to importing more left-hand drive vehicles and continue its business of converting them to right-hand drive, which could open up additional product from Chevrolet. The Corvette and Camaro could make for a more diverse Walkinshaw portfolio. A hotter Holden Astra may also be on the table.
These are only rumors for now, but the sources lend credibility to the name shift. An announcement could come in the next few weeks.

Will they have a “DJ by Ryan” sticker near the stereo?
And come with a selection of various Walkinshaw branded hair product?
This has to be viewed as a positive move.
The comparatively short 69 year life of the ‘Holden’ name plate is coming to an end.
General Motors should follow this example by quickly killing off the Holden brand and turning its focus towards building a worldwide GM company selling just Chevrolet, to the mass market and Cadillac to the premium market.
That’s the GM future……………..
