The GM Authority Take
The continued sales growth of the Acadia in 2017 shows that the all-new, second-generation Acadia lands exactly at the sweet spot of the crossover space even more so than the first-generation model, most likely as a result of being smaller and thereby appealing to a broader potential customer base over its much larger predecessor. In fact, the sales performance of the new Acadia has made us conclude that GM bet big on making the second-gen Acadia smaller, and the bet has paid off. That said, the Acadia is posting these impressive numbers with some fairly heavy incentives. The brand was offering up to $7,000 in incentives on select models of the crossover in June.
Going forward, we expect the Acadia to continue posting sales volume growth thanks to various factors working in its favor, including the ongoing shift in consumer vehicle buying dynamics that favor crossovers (at the expense of other vehicle types, like sedans and coupes) as well as the transition of the second-generation model from a full-size CUV to a mid-sizer.

Good numbers, aside from the rather stout incentives.
Hey, isn’t that the platform Cadillac is going to use for the XT6? But they need two more years to do what GMC and Buick have already done?
Anyway, good on ya, GMC.
As for Team Cadillac – I wanna go to their Soho coffehaus HQ and see if it takes 2 years to get a Cappuccino.
Ciao for now …
The platform of the XT6 will be C1, but the long-wheelbase version like the Enclave and Traverse.
The problem with the timeframe is that the XT4 and XT5 were only commissioned roughly 16-18 months ago. The fact that it will take about 24-30 months to bring them to market is actually decent in terms of vehicle development times. That said, the bigger mistake was with GM not having commissioned these vehicles prior to Johan… major planning mistake.
Bought a GMC Acadia Denali in June. It replaces my 2012 Chevy Equinox. I liked the size of the new Acadia, which is bigger than my Equinox was but not too big. Equinox no longer offers a V6 and I am not thrilled about start-stop technology that can’t be turned off. The Acadia’s 3.6L V6 offers 310 HP with better highway fuel economy than my old 3.0 V6 in my Equinox. With a 22 gallon gas tank, this vehicle has serious range. Lots of neat technology in this vehicle as well. This is my first GMC vehicle. I hope it is as bulletproof as my Chevy was.
We had an 08 Acadia and it was a gas hog
Friend got 28.2 mpg highway driving his 2017 V6 to Florida. The new Acadia is 700 pounds lighter and the V6 drops to a V4 at highway cruising. So far I am getting 20-21 mpg in around town mixed driving. Decent for this type of vehicle.
