Chevy Spark Sales Decrease 99.9 Percent To 11 Units In June 2017

Cumulative Chevrolet Spark sales decreased in the United States and in Canada during June 2017.

Chevrolet Spark Sales – June 2017 – United States

Chevrolet Spark deliveries in the United States totaled 11 units in June 2017, a decrease of 99.9 percent compared to 6,559 units sold in June 2016. In the first six months of 2017, Spark sales decreased almost 50 percent to 9,208 units.

Chevrolet Spark Sales – June 2017 – Canada

In Canada, the Spark recorded 15 deliveries in June 2017, a decrease of 95.5 percent compared to 336 units in June 2016. In the first six months of the year, Spark sales have increased 15.3 percent to 1,226 units in Canada.

The GM Authority Take

The significant sales drops are directly attributed to the Chevy Spark recall and subsequent stop-sale issued in May impacting the vehicle’s passenger-side airbag module. GM tells us that it expects to have the recall and stop-sale resolved “shortly”.

The Spark is the only vehicle in its segment in the U.S. The current model is the second-generation model introduced for the 2016 model year. The vehicle received several updates and changes for the 2017 model year, one of which was the addition of the Spark Activ equipment group that gives the city car a slightly more rugged, crossover-like appearance along with a somewhat higher ride height.
