About Cadillac CT6
Based on a high-tech, modern and lightweight rear-drive architecture known as the GM Omega platform, the CT6 is the first Cadillac model ever to compete in the full-size luxury flagship sedan space that has been defined by such segment stalwarts as the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8/S8, and Lexus LS.
The GM Authority Take
The CT6’s June sales performance of 1,014 units is very healthy, putting the model in second place in its competitive set by volume behind the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and well ahead of the BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS, and Audi A8. In addition, the CT6 was the only model in its competitive set to post a June year-over-year sales increase, while all other entrants saw sales dip during the month.

Love seeing a CT6 on the road, especially at night. Those headlights are beautiful!
Not many buyers cross shop the big flagship models from MB, BMW, Audi, et al, with a 4 cylinder car from GM. A better comparison is the MB E-Class, which sold over 4300 cars in June BTW. According to Automotive News, Cadillac dropped to 7th place in Luxury Vehicle sales in June. We need better interiors, not this mishmash of vinyl, plastic, and fake wood !
No one is talking about cross-shopping the CT6 2.0T with any others vehicles in their class. But the 3.6 V-6 is cross shopped, as is the 3.0TT CT6.
Furthermore, the interior of the CT6 is up there with the best of the segment. It’s not the best, but it is comparable. The problem is that there isn’t a wow-factor to go along with it. This applies to all Cadillac products across the board, unfortunately… but the CT6 is the most relevant for this conversation since it’s the newest.
CT6 is fine, but Cadillac stilll must step ug game on interior. Too many facets in design, carbon fiber, smooth leather, perforated leather, hard plastic and wood. Yes this in the top of the line Platinum! Rather than leaving the wood natural, it has a very high gloss finish begging fake. The bottom door pillars have the same scuffable cheap hard plastic, that GM has used in every vehicle I have owned since 72. My 2016 CTS Premium had a leather covered driver air bag cover. Not in the Platinum, the same knobby vinyl that could be out the very first GM airbag! Way too much hard plastic on lower door panels too!
Very satisfying vehicle with not enough commitment to make class best!
Very well-put, Martin.
Wait a minute, we are selling a thousand CT6, and another thousand XTS, while Mercedes is selling barely more than a thosand S class, and BMW is selling 600, and Audi and Lexus 300 each? This is a great success for Cadillac, and we need to incrementally expand and improve on that. If I wasn t so content with my CTS, I definitely would get a CT6.
CT6 doesn’t compete with the class leading S Class, but with the E Class = 4300.
A plastic 2.0 car comparing against the luxury leader with a V8?
Really?
And what makes you think the S-Class isn’t available with a 4 cylinder engine?
Well, someone can make a silly argument that a Mercedes Maybach S550 can’t compete w/ RR Ghost & Bentley Flying Spur. Good grieve, the loony comments from some people.
What matters most is people are voting with their money and you can’t do anything about it if people are comparing the CT6 directly to the competition or not.
And you act like that the 2.0 T is the most purchased model, which we all know better that it isn’t.
