When the C7 Corvette Stingray was revealed, it ushered in drastic design changes that left Corvette faithful in a love it or hate it state. Specifically, we’re talking about the rear end.
Gone were the traditional, round taillights and in their place were more angular units. Apparently, the owner of this C5 Corvette is on the “love it” end of the spectrum because they’ve had quite a bit of work done to emulate the design.
A Reddit user captured this Frankenstein C7/C5 Corvette on the move, finished in a custom highlighter orange paint hue. From the rear, it looks identical to a C7 Corvette, and it actually sports Z06-spec taillights. However, pan to the front of the car and it really falls apart.
The wider body has left massive wheel arches with not enough tire or wheel to fill them. It literally makes the front of the car look to small for its own good. There’s also an aftermarket hood and it seems the pop-up headlights have been replaced with fixed aftermarket units as well—for better or worse.
The license plate reads “Our UFO.” Out of this world? Absolutely.

Just trade in for a used C7? Or does Frankenstein ring in that much cheaper?
There’s nothing wrong with being the real American and making what you need in our want and also you cannot knock genius it was because they’re the first person to do it I haven’t seen it anywhere else so big thumbs up ??????
Frankenstein is a complement to that abortion. Now, if they had used a C6 rear with a C7 nose, that might be appealing.
Reminds me of the time years ago when I saw a C4 with quasi C5 body work at Pomona. Bad idea then, bad idea now.
It’s a C7 rear and a G6 GXP front end. Fitting article.
I’m all for customizing your ride , but ya gotta do it right . And this just ain’t right even the color is a problem .
I saw a SRX recently that had the V-Sport emblem on the rear hatch , who are they trying to fool . I just laughed and shook my head .
Had he kept the factory headlights and the license plate cover painted to match the car, it probably would have looked pretty good. Me, I would have left it be and just invested in some better wheels and a good paint job to change the looks, but if he’s happy…
Bad idea
That front wheel space is going to give me nightmares…
I think the rear looks great.
The front though?? My gosh- The wheel gap is awful, and the headlights just don’t work with the rest of the look.
I’ve been guilty of seriously considering the C4-C5 conversion… so I’m OK with butchering, but someone save that front end please!
