The GM Authority Take

Despite the shifting consumer behavior dynamics from sedans to crossover utility vehicles (CUVs), the LaCrosse sedan managed to deliver rather strong sales volumes numbers in June as well as in May. We attribute the sales increase to growing fleet sales (though not necessarily to rental fleets) as well as a retail sales increase thanks to attractive LaCrosse incentives, which were headlined by a 17 percent discount from the MSRP on select models. If the LaCrosse continues on its current trend, it could very well finish 2017 with an increase in year-over-year sales volume.

For the 2018 model year, the LaCrosse is getting various updates and changes, including a new base engine — the 2.5L I-4 eAssist mild hybrid, which enables the base price of the full-size sedan to fall roughly $1,500 to $30,490. Other notable changes include the addition of three new exterior colors, the introduction of GM’s 9-speed automatic transmission and an expanded availability of all-wheel-drive.

  1. Price the car were it should be and it will sell. Think how it would sell if they put in a defeat switch for stop/start and somehow got the highway MPG up to 32 or 33 MPG. More exterior and interior colors would certainly help.
