‘Big Red’ Camaro Returns To Pikes Peak After Last Year’s Fire: Video

After a literal meltdown last year, the famous, 1969 “Big Red” Camaro Z/28 has returned to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, now more capable than ever before.

We imagine that the Osborne-built stock car chassis still underpins the Big Red Camaro, and fans will surely be happy to know that the gargantuan, 555-cubic-inch big-block V8 is still being put to use. The beastly big-block pumps out 1,600 to 2,000 horsepower, depending on how much boost pressure the ProCharger F3 blower is making. The team will need every last bit of power if it hopes to break its record of 251 miles per hour at Mojave.

Featured in the video above, the “Big Red” Camaro sounds as good as ever, and looks faster than a bat out of hell. Click play above to see and hear it tear through part of the 12.42-mile Pikes Peak course like the angry red monster it is.
