The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox doesn’t portray itself as some unfortunate rental car lottery consolation prize, and that’s also clear in the varied nature of its color palette.
For a mainstream, compact crossover, Chevrolet has gotten a little bold with the color choices offered. Sure, there are the standard black, white and silver hues, but there are some that are welcome, and others that are—quite frankly—startling. Pepper Dust Metallic radiates in a lovely bronze hue and Sandy Ridge Metallic offers a different take on a typical tan color. Silver Ice and Storm Blue both look quite nice finished on the exterior of the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox as well.
But, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox may also be ordered in Ivy Metallic, a surprisingly bold green color. And then there’s Orange Burst Metallic, which wouldn’t look out of place on a Chevrolet Camaro. Cajun Red looks good, but after so many rounds of the auto show circuit, it’s become a tad bland in our eyes. The fun colors are also a $395 premium over the standard color choices, while Iridescent Pearl Tricoat is a $995 option.
Moral of the story? We’re happy to see some bolder hues on a mainstream crossover. Declare war on vanilla, buy an orange 2018 Chevrolet Equinox.

On a closely related matter, Equinox configurator still does not list 2,0 and 9-speed, even though sister shop to my Cadillac dealership has 5 in stock!
Just for my aggravation I chatted on the Chevy website and the responses were hilarious and canned. Yea they are available and if you give me your zip I will give you a dealer to visit!
lets skip all these crazy shades and get back to basics with baby blue ,beiges ,and not charging more
Why, GM, do I still look at the same old boring colors on a fun car like the Camaro in the order sheets, yet you give a mundane family hauler several choices? The Mustang and Charger/Challenger have a great array of interesting colors, even if you don’t like them; at least you have choices. I would love to see a Camaro in other than metallic Black, White, Red or Blue, even one shade of those colors as well.
I just saw a Charger yesterday in a non-metallic Gray, and a Grabber blue mustang. Would I buy those colors, eh, probably not, but they stood out, and that’s what many buyers want.
I think it’s a nice change to see something different coming from GM . Certain colors look better on the right vehicle . For the younger crowd a color like orange will probably do very well on the Nox but not so much on a Terrain .
With computers being able to create a wide range of colors GM should come up with paint that helps show the feature lines of their cars .
I think most people don’t want to ride around in the same color car as you might see your neighbor driving .
I honestly still prefer that Gray Green instead of this shade of green.
GM’s Harley Earl created the “Art & Color” section in… 1927. Seems like the colors have dried up ;).
Now they just need to start offering interior colors other than black and boring grey. Why can’t we have a light blue or brown inside?
They have a brown. They just kinda called it “cinnamon”. But I do agree on colors like blue or even red. I know the Cherokee have this indigo color which is like a shade of dark blue with some brown color on it
Why don’t they have a good looking blue color in the Equinox. It’s always a dull ugly blue. I like the blue that’s offered in the 2018 Camaro. Why not offer it for the Equinox too?
