Hey there, friend, how’ve you been? It’s been awhile since the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 has been spotted testing, but Chevrolet has returned to the Nürburgring once again.
The video shows the Corvette ZR1 taking in a few hot laps around the famed circuit with its giant rear spoiler intact and goofy, sound-muffling exhaust in place. We suppose now is a good time to recap what might be happening with the range-topping Corvette ZR1.
Foremost, it’s rumored the C7 Corvette ZR1 will sport a 6.2-liter LT5 DOHC V8 engine with some sort of forced induction. Other rumors peg an even more powerful 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine to be present, though. Leaked documents from 2016 lend credibility to the LT5 V8, however, and the engine code has also shown up in a few internal GM systems.
There’s also likely to be some sort of active aerodynamics going on, according to patent images obtained. Last, but not least, it’s going to be really, really loud. Those pipes are to keep the engine’s volume in check while testing and it still sounds beastly.
Have a look at the video above as we wait for when we’ll officially see the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 debut.
