2017 Opel Insignia Earns Five-Star NCAP Safety Rating: Video0
The results are in and the 2017 Opel Insignia Grand Sport is one safe sedan. The European NCAP has finished its crash test procedures and awarded the vehicle a five-star safety rating.
Additionally, the 2017 Insignia Grand Sport earned high scores in the four main categories evaluated by the NCAP: adult occupant, child occupant, pedestrian safety and safety assist. The Insignia Grand Sport’s active hood, which springs and lifts up in the event a pedestrian is struck, helped achieve positive results.
From the video, it’s easy to see the cabin’s rigidity stays intact during a multitude of crash scenarios, including the small frontal overlap test—a pesky exam for many vehicles. The cabin remains uncompromised and the crumple zones absorb much of the energy from the collision.
The results may be a precursor for good things when the 2018 Buick Regal Sportback goes on sale later this year. Every single 2017 Buick has earned a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA.
