Police Chase Involving C6 Corvette ZR1 Reaches Speeds Of 132 MPH, Ends In Wreck: Video

Omaha police were led on a wild chase involving a C6 Corvette ZR1, which ended in the 21-year-old driver wrecking the car.

The Omaha World Herald reports the driver sped past an officer when merging onto a highway. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver of the Corvette ZR1 floored it. Speeds during the pursuit reached 132 mph, according to the police.

It wasn’t until the driver struck a work van that the chase came to an end. After striking the van, the Corvette ZR1 then plowed into a lawn care vehicle’s trailer. Police said the trailer likely saved the life of everyone involved in the wreck, which acted like a crumple zone and absorbed much of the impact.

Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but the driver has been charged with felony flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, speeding and driving with a suspended license. That’s in addition to an already lengthy rap sheet; the driver already had a warrant out for his arrest for willful reckless driving, driving under suspension and failure to appear in court.

The 21-year-old routinely posted street racing videos to his Facebook page, but it seems his ego caught up with him. He probably won’t be behind the wheel for a very long time.

To be that young and have so much power underneath your left foot while driving that car.
He’s very lucky that no one was killed because he’d spend a good chunk of his life in state prison!

  6. Young and stupid because it’s virtually impossible to outrun cops.. and the faster the driver goes, the more the cops will think the individual might have done something serious because no one tries so hard to avoid a simple speeding ticket unless they’re a moron which means the cops will call for a fleet of cars, helicopter support (local news stations if they don’t have their own) and it’s just a matter of time before the cops close in and the driver makes an error and plow into something.

  9. He wont serve prison time I am almost certain of that. He’ll do a little while in County but thats it. He is stupid for not getting away. But i will say…I have been in his position and I understand the reason he decided to flee. It would of definitely been the end of the line for him if he was pulled over for a ticket so he took his chances on getting away. However..Once you’ve made that decision it is very easy to make a mistake with so much adrenaline, fear and high heart rate literally hinders you from being on your A game in the drivers seat. Moral of the story…don’t do it. This guy learned first hand and i’m sure he’ll never forget it either. Another story to prove that the people that can afford the high end Vettes usually cant drive them. Hopefully the salvage parts make it to a good home!
