C7 Corvette production will go on hiatus when the plant shuts down to undergo upgrades and retooling. When the plant comes back online this fall, Black Rose Metallic will not return.
Corvette Blogger reports Harlan Charles, Product Marketing Manager for Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro, confirmed the demise of the color option. Black Rose Metallic is one of three premium paint choices, which also include Corvette Racing Yellow and Long Beach Red.
“Basically we are painting Black Rose until the plant shut down happens in August and it won’t be brought back when we start back in November,” said Charles. “We will replace it with a new color TBA, but [that] may not be right away.”
The color has been far from popular—the National Corvette Museum states just 1,333 C7 Corvettes have been finished in Black Rose Metallic. In a world of red, yellow and black Corvettes, the hue is refreshing, though.
The date to order a Corvette finished in the color has come and gone; 2018 Corvette orders closed on June 12 but will reopen again when the Bowling Green plant goes back online in October.

I actually liked the black rose though not my first choice.
I’d like to see Corvette replace its black with something like the metallic black offered with the Camaro.
When I started building my 2017 C7, I did so because the Black Rose color was available. But I was not in the market for another Corvette. I had already owned seven, all brand new starting with a 1977 L82. I was just killing time in an otherwise sleepless night. When I was finished “building” the car on the internet, a C7 Z51 with 23 options on it, I liked the build so much that I sent it to my favorite Chevrolet dealer. He too liked the Black Rose and ordered it, giving me first option to buy on it. When it came in, just one look and I was signing the papers on that beautiful machine. That was last December (2016). I love the darn thing so much that I find the worst thing about most trips that I take in it, is the arrival. I continually look for excuses to drive it. So far, 7 months since I took delivery of the car, not one single problem and there are no squeaks or rattles. It is a solidly built car.
Shame that’s a sweet color. Hmmmm bring back dark green???
chevy cruze has a much better ride, especially around sharp corners.
HOW ABOUT TURQUOISE METALIC?RAN FOR ONLY 2 YEARS 1990-1991.I THINK THE C7 WOULDLOOK GREAT IN THAT COLOR.ALSO,I LIKE BLACK ROSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can’t wait for my Z06 2018 in this colour. I may like the horsepower too!
My 1977 Chrysler Córdoba was painted “Black Sunfire Metallic.”
I hated it from Day 1.
I hate it still.
Black should be BLACK.
Black should look so wet and so deep you could drown in it.
Like most car guys, I babied my new car. Washed it. Polished it. Took better care of it than I did of myself.
But it never looked clean. The gold metallic looked like a coat of dust on the surface of the black.
The metallic blacks of today are no better. They lack the depth and shine that only a true black can achieve.
Boy you’re a hater. This colour is not pretending to be black nor would I buy a black car. I have one and the colour is awesome and guaranteed it looks better than whatever you have.
Say Richard, you are calling Bryan a “hater” simply for expressing an opinion about the color of his car. Chill out dude, an opinion is just an opinion. An opinion about a car color certainly does not warrant a label such as “hater.” That’s my opinion only, But we should just chill out and enjoy life and each other’s conversation a bit more. When it comes to car colors, my favorite is the Black Rose. It is on my 8th Corvette, a C7 Z51 with the Kalahari interior. The color is awesome – in my opinion – in that it looks black in the shade and pretty much like a black rose in the light, with its metallic points reflecting the light. It kind of reminds me of my GMC Yukon Denali. I ordered it in Iridium. When would ask me what color it was, I would say “Iridium.” They would ask what color is that? I didn’t know because at times the color would look a gunmetal slight green, a metallic brown, and in the shade, almost black. Aren’t paint colors fun? Some defy our labels.
I read a lot of hate, stated and implied, so what else do you conclude? As I said, I have that colour on a Z06 and it is fantastic. It is not black or trying to be black. Dissing a colour because the word ‘black’ is in it is unfair. And what is wrong with metallic blacks anyway? Far better than plain black in my opinion but I would never ‘hate’ either nor think back 40 years to some old paint job on a Chrysler. And that is my opinion, just as valid as his.
I will leave you with your opinion Richard. You are entitled to it. I just hope Bryan’s hate doesn’t lead him to a violent act. LOL!
Looks like the new color will be Orange.
Yes Tennessee ? Orange!
Atomic Orange. I just looked at a bevy of Black Rose, about 10 on one Lot, with various tops and interiors-it’s one of the few colors you can get away with mixing and matching, Spice Top and interior, Kalahari Top and and Intrior, to just tri-black. tha 2014 Green was a hit for sure. I’m building mine, Yellow, or Black, it’s a 120k ZO6 and I don’t want it to look like a Grand Touring car-that just ain’t right.
