Matt Farah Reviews A Supercharged Sixth-Gen Camaro SS With 500 WHP: Video

For some folks, the 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque delivered by the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 in the 2016 Chevy Camaro SS just isn’t going to cut it. It wasn’t enough for the owner of the car in this video, which is why why he chose to bolt in a Vortech V3 centrifugal supercharger under the hood.

With some tuning by Cunningham Motorsports, this Camaro SS received a power bump of about 100 wheel-horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque. The Smoking Tire‘s Matt Farah observed no tremendous difference below about 4,000 rpm, almost giving the impression that the Camaro is stock. Once Farah got on the throttle, though, the supercharged V8 roared to life.

Oddly, not only does the car perform better with its Vortech supercharger, but the owner claims that it averages about 2 more miles per gallon. Sounds like a win-win to us.

Check it out on a recent edition of The Smoking Tire‘s “One Take” above.
