It’s been over two years since GMC rolled out its “Precision” ad campaign to coincide with its long-standing “Professional Grade” motif. However, the brand is moving in a new direction to strengthen its core marking competency.
GMC has debuted its “Like a Pro” advertising campaign, which takes the best of Professional Grade and strengthens the core message.
“Our owners are dedicated individuals, respected by their peers, whose passion and abilities set them apart,” said Rich Latek, GMC marketing director. “Their values reflect our ‘Professional Grade’ spirit and we look forward to bringing that emotional connection to life. And we’re excited to show how we think our customers live their lives like pros.”
The new ads feature GMC Denali trucks and SUVs—for good reason. Denali surpassed the 1 million sales milestone this year and the Denali sub-brand accounts for 30 percent of all new GMC sales.
The lead advertisement, titled “How do you want to live – Anthem,” asks viewers if settling for okay, mediocre or just decent is a standard. The ad crescendos with a good, better, best kind of dialogue before wrapping up the “Like a Pro” message. Have a look at the debut spot in the video right up above.

Is it me or does it seemed like they took the “like a rock” and change it to “like a pro”
Elevating the meaning of Professional Grade; this is a brilliant advertisement.
I like it. I is like a smart beer classy commercial.

Fake News! Looks like the next-gen Terrain 🙂
Is that a new voice for GMC?
Anyway, I’ll withhold comment until we see how Pro works with Acadia and Terrain – doubt the long manifesto will be seen much, other than on YouTube.
The test will come when it’s time for :17/:13 cutdowns with a $7000 cash-back Sierra commercial, and still keep some of that brand essence alive. But better than where they were.
Honestly as a “good” consumer it’s insulting. So being good is “mundane”. Stop the cliche ad writing. You know you’re doing it; we all do.
Does anyone know Where was this commercial shot at? Particularly where the lake is & the truck is following a road that curves along the side of the lake. Just breathtaking!
I must confess I find this ad deeply insulting. By all means tell us how wonderful your vehicle is, but do you really need to do so by denigrating values that many people hold dear? If, one day, my obituary says that I have lived as a decent human being and a good husband then that will be praise indeed. Not everything needs to be “like a pro”.
