Extremely Rare Chevy Yenko Camaro Fetches $395,000 At Mecum Portland

We’ve seen some ridiculously expensive sales go through Mecum Auctions over the years, and this 1968 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro represents just another. Not that it didn’t deserve its stratospheric winning bid; just sixty-four examples of the Yenko Camaro were built for 1968, and today, says Mecum, just twenty are left intact.
Back in January, we said we had a feeling this would be one car to watch, and it looks like our premonition was on-point; it sold for an eye-watering $395,000 at Mecum’s Portland auction. With that much money, you could buy a fleet of five 2017 Camaro ZL1 1LEs, and still have cash left over for fuel and extra tires.
While we understand the need to protect one’s investment, we hope the new owner of this Camaro gets to occasionally go out and enjoy the big, bad, 472-cubic-inch L72 V8 while rowing through the gears of the M21 four-speed transmission.
