D3 Widebody Cadillac Is Said To Be The Fastest ATS-V On The West Coast: Video

We’ve seen a lot of love for the Cadillac ATS-V in the tuner market, including from the likes of Hennessey Performance, Renick Performance, and even a bit of European love from Geiger Cars.

Next up is D3 Cadillac, which claims to have the fastest ATS-V ever – at least on the West Coast. (Shots fired!)

In this video you’ll see footage from the Cadillac Challenge at Auto Club Speedway back in May. During this event, D3 set a new ATS-V record at the track, while also finishing first in its class and leading all other Cadillac vehicles for the day.

In order to make the D3 widebody ATS-V such a fierce competitor, D3 made the following enhancements:

  • D3 Sport Lowering Springs
  • D3 Performance Brake Pad Upgrade (Track Spec)
  • D3 Steel Braided Brakelines
  • Upgraded Brake Fluid (WINMAX)
  • D3 Performance Downpipes
  • D3 Performance Air Intake System
  • D3 Custom Exhaust w/Borla Mufflers
  • D3 ECU Calibration
  • Forged one-Piece Custom Wheels
  • Falken Tire Azenis 275/35/18 & 315/30/18

We’re really hoping to see some of these tuners “walk the walk” in a head-to-head showdown, but we won’t hold our breath. Until then, we’ll continue to enjoy test driving the goods and watching these videos.

  2. ^ that’s funny! I thought the joke was the car that supposedly a track car that has never been on the track. This is the first real build with video proof of how fast it is. Good job D3 in showing how awesome the atsv platform is and can be.

  3. When did Cadillac become concerned with track speed? This is like a Ferrari bragging about cargo capacity.

    1. Ever since it started playing in the game called sport luxury.

Did you see the launch ads for the ATS? They are either on the Nurburgring (Google Green He’ll) or on a twisty public road.

At this point, if a luxury automaker is not doing something in the sport space, they are simply not respected in the luxury segment. Look at the Germans, which Continue to define the automotive luxury landscape from sales volume, fiscal metrics, mind share, and desirability. The same goes for Lexus and, slightly less so, for Acura, Infiniti and Volvo. Then look at Lincoln, which has zero presence in sport luxury.

The sales volumes of all the aforementioned speak for themselves.

      1. I guess showing an ad with the ATS on a track or twisty road, is better than saying “Introducing the ATS, successor to the Cimarron”. I thought the ATS ad called “Irresistible”, featuring British comedic actor Stephen Merchant and a red ATS was a lot better. The emphasis was on elegant looks, which is classic Cadillac, not track performance.

I still say the ATS is not a real Cadillac (too small/cramped, too stiff riding, too cheap/non-luxury in the base model). And it’s crazy trying to combine a luxury ride with a sports car; that’s like combining a duck and a beaver and getting a platypus. Cadillac is just a confused brand in terms of sedans now, not really pleasing any segment of the car-buying public.

Did the world really need one more German wannabe? Too bad they trashed a fantastic, hugely admired and loved brand for what they have now. Yet they’ll keep saying they need to stay the course for another 10 years, a la Melody Lee collecting her pay and perks while delivering poor results.
