The GM Authority Take
The Chevrolet Trax continues to demonstrate its sales prowess as car buyers continue to gravitate towards crossovers at the expense of sedans.
Chevrolet was second to enter the U.S. subcompact crossover space, with Nissan’s Juke being the first car to market in the segment. Rival automakers have since followed suit by either launching or announcing competing vehicles, including, including Honda’s HR-V, Toyota’s CH-R, Nissan’s Rogue Sport, Hyundai’s Kona, and Ford’s EcoSport.

ENCORE | +12.30% | 7,324 | 6,522 | +17.93% | 35,768 | 30,330 |
HR-V | +28.96% | 9,533 | 7,392 | +26.38% | 37,756 | 29,876 |

TOTAL | +27.83% | 24,309 | 19,016 | +32.77% | 110,920 | 83,545 |
So, given the growth of the B-segment CUV segment as well as the ongoing growth in crossover sales, we expect that the Trax will continue posting sales gains for the foreseeable future, given that GM can keep up with demand at the two assembly plants building the Trax:
- The GM Bupyeong factory by GM Korea
- The GM San Luis Potosi factory by GM Mexico

GM, need’s to build the Trax in mainland.
You gonna say the same for Encore as well?
What about actually growing the Chevy Trax lineup.. with a Trax sport and Trax XL; Trax Sport by it’s name tells the story with a 200 hp 1.6L DOHC-4V 4-Cyl turbo and the Trax XL.. a stretched Tax for 3-row seating.
You might as well just tell Chevy to make the Orlando again
Is there any GM product that sells this well that we ship to Mexico or S. Korea ?
Both small SUV’s the Encore and Trax are imported and are great sellers . Is GM really paying these workers such a low wage , and the cost of shipping it here any better than making these twins here in the States .
Reading about all the trade with these countries is getting very frustrating , especially since it isn’t a level playing field.
