The GM Authority Take

Having made its debut for the 2015 model year, the Tahoe remains a strong seller for Chevy, and we don’t see the 11.6 percent sales volume decrease as a big reason for concern. However, it is worth noting that a decline in Tahoe deliveries could negatively impact GM’s profitability, since the SUV along with other vehicles based on GM’s K2 truck platform are significant profit drivers for General Motors.

In addition, the decrease in Tahoe deliveries comes at a time when the market is favoring CUVs and SUVs over other types of vehicles, such as sedans. As such, it will be interesting to see how Tahoe sales fare in the second half of the year, when the 2018 model brings various improvements such as the Tahoe RST and Tahoe Performance Package.

  1. “interesting”? Guess not based on the response to this, sales are still ahead of last year’s numbers!

    So, nothing to see here.

Maybe you guys should start including GM’s stock ticker in these “sales up/sales down” corporate performance reports?

  2. We may also be beginning to see the influence of the new 2018 chevy traverse on tahoe sales numbers. It will be available in a couple of months. I am going to cross shop the two and i suspect many others without towing needs will as well.
