About Cadillac CT6

Based on a high-tech, modern and lightweight rear-drive architecture labeled as the GM Omega platform, the CT6 is the first Cadillac model ever to compete in the full-size luxury flagship sedan space that has been defined by such segment stalwarts as the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8/S8, and Lexus LS.

The GM Authority Take

The CT6’s May sales performance of 1,001 units is very healthy, putting it in second place in its competitive set by volume behind the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and ahead of the BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS, and Audi A8. In addition, the CT6 was the only model in its class to post a year-over-year sales increase, as all other entrants saw sales dip during May.

  2. Seem to be a month over month sales increase. Hope the refreshed XTS don’t steal its momentum next year. They need the V8 awe soon as possible.

    1. i would say 4.2TT v8 AWD in something like CT6L

  3. Bewildering considering how overpriced it is. But then sales were so low initially they could only go up a bit. Will be interesting to see how the refreshed XTS affects sales of this car.

    1. Overpriced is highly relative and subjective. Care to defend the opinion?

      I, for one, think it’s a bargain.

      1. Grossly overpriced is exactly right for what this car is. No V8 available at all. The base engine is the same one used in a much lower cost Chevy Malibu. The interior materials are nowhere near the prices being asked for these, especially the cheap hard plastic door panels and lower seat frames. Things that should be std equipment are only offered on much costlier trims, the 3.6 335 HP V6 is at best okay as a basic engine yet is the main offering on models climbing well into the 70K range and doesn’t match up even with Lincoln’s Continental mid engine 2.7TT V6 and the top Platinum trim is priced into fantasyland territory with one example listed at 90K!

This car was so over hyped and yet under delivered in many areas and thus does not deserve to be priced where it is. If anything it should more closely mirror the Continental which has a far nicer and more comfortable interior, a std 305 Hp V6 engine and a larger trunk and more back seat space. And from virtually every test conducted on this car it can closely hang with this Caddy in the ride/handling and braking department despite being based on a FWD platform which few buyers really care about these days.

  4. Next Generation CT6 is coming up with it’s TT V8 engine. These XTS wouldn’t be around that much longer.
