Development for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra is well underway, and we have our first look at a different cab configuration.
New spy shots have shown the 2019 Silverado double cab for the first time and it’s sticking with a front-hinged rear door design. The spy shots certainly seem to show an exterior door handle hidden by the camouflage. The Ford F-150 and Nissan Titan both have a rear-hinged design, which allows the door to open nearly 180°.
Previous spy shots have been crew cab models, which obviously feature exterior door handles for backseat passengers.
Much surrounding the next-generation of General Motors’ full-size pickup trucks is as skewed as the camouflage here. However, GM is on track to use considerable amounts of aluminum to shave weight and a 10-speed automatic transmission is almost a given.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and 2019 GMC Sierra will likely debut next year before going on sale as 2019 models.

I like to see GM to bring back the rear-hinge doors for the Heavy Duty Trucks.
The rear clamshell doors offer much better access to the back seat.
