2018 Chevrolet Trax Gets New Colors, New Infotainment System, Redline Edition And More

Having joined the Chevrolet lineup for the 2015 model year, the Trax crossover has been carrying its weight rather well — establishing the brand as one of the first competitors in the rapidly-growing subcompact (B-segment) crossover space. The model accounted for nearly 80,000 deliveries in 2016 and is on track to match or beat that in calendar year 2017. Having received a midcycle refresh for the 2017 model year, the small CUV is getting some interesting changes and updates for 2018.

On the outside, the 2018 Trax replaces three exterior colors with three new ones:

Deleted Colors

  • Crimson Metallic
  • Orange Burst Metallic
  • Blue Topaz Metallic

New Colors

  • Storm Blue Metallic
  • Sandy Ridge Metallic
  • Cajun Red Tintcoat (available at extra cost)

Also joining the lineup for the 2018 model year is the previously-announced Redline Edition which includes:

  • 17″ Black finish aluminum wheels with Red accent stripes
  • P215/55R18 all-season blackwall tires
  • Black mirror caps
  • Black grille with Black surround
  • Front and rear black bowties
  • Black beltline moldings
  • Black Trax badge with Red outline

The Redline package includes Jet Black Deluxe Cloth/Leatherette seating and is available with the following three exterior colors:

  • Silver Ice Metallic
  • Summit White
  • Mosaic Black Metallic

On the inside, the 2018 Chevy Trax replaces the Chevrolet MyLink Radio with 7-inch diagonal color touch-screen (IOA) with another Chevrolet MyLink Radio with 7-inch diagonal color touch-screen (IOR). We are currently unclear about the difference between the two units.

What’s more, the Premier trim level gains the following two features as standard:

Finally, the LT trim level requires LT Convenience Package when being equipped with the following packages:

  • Driver Confidence Package
  • Sun and Sound Package

The updates and changes described here are specific to the U.S. market and may be different for other markets.

The Chevy Trax is assembled at two plants:

  1. When’s it going to get some more power to go with the Redline Edition?

    1. Well, the Redline does its job as an appearance pack. now it’s just a matter of stuffing that new LE2 from the Encore and a variant of the 9-speed automatic into the Trax.

The overwhelming majority of buyers in this segment are looking for efficiency over power in this segment…

      1. But that’s how you expand the segment — and make more money doing it. Especially when some competitors are already doing it — Kia Soul SX has a 1.6 turbo with over 200 hp.

  2. It still needs a proper center console and arm rest instead of that cheesy flip down thing it has had since its intro here.

  3. There goes the Orange Burst Metallic! 🙁

  4. And it still uses the same engine that a 2010 Cruze did which is 8 long years ago. Why it’s taking them so long to upgrade to the same engine that the 2016-2017 cheaper Chevy Cruze uses is very disturbing. The silly dinky one sided armrest and lack of a proper center console are also comical and reduce this thing to a joke for the prices they are asking for these things.

  5. It shares the same engine as the Chevy Sonic, and old Cruze’s. If there is any car that should be given the Redline Appearance Package, it should be the Sonic. The Trax is the last car next to the Spark that should receive this package. UPDATE THE DAMN ENGINE. PLACE THE 2.0T Turbo from the Malibu into the Sonic!

  6. Does it look like the Premier model comes with LED headlights. From the photo above, it looks like it does.

  7. My wife is pushing for a Chrysler Pacifica because our two Volts lack room on long trips. We need an SUV or minivan PHEV FAST!
