The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Is Going Racing

Yesterday, Chevrolet announced the 2017 Colorado ZR2 is officially shipping out to owners and will arrive at dealerships shortly. However, buried in the announcement, Chevrolet was also keen on highlighting one thing: the Colorado ZR2 is going racing.

Chad Hall, of Hall Racing, will take delivery of the red Colorado ZR2 you see here. Upon arriving at Hall Racing, it will be modified accordingly and built to tackle the “Best in the Desert” series.

“The Colorado ZR2 really caught our attention with its built-in versatility and the high-speed, off-road potential of the Multimatic DSSV dampers,” said Hall. “We love the ground clearance, ride stability, departure and breakover angles of the ZR2, and the inherent light weight and maneuverability of its midsize package. It should be a great platform for us to build an off-road desert-racing truck.”

After its race outing, Chevrolet and Hall Racing will continue to use the truck to develop future Chevrolet Performance parts. What kind of parts? We don’t know, but Chevy says they will range from customization components and other things for “improved off-road performance.”

If you want to catch the Colorado ZR2 strutting its stuff with Hall Racing, look for it at the General Tire Vegas to Reno on August 18 and 19 and the VT Construction Tonopah 250 on October 19-22.
