Joey Logano, Danica Patrick and Aric Almirola were involved a large wreck in Saturday night’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway.
The three-car crash was sparked when Joey Logano lost control of his No. 22 Ford Fusion after blowing a tire and darted into the side of the No. 10 Chevrolet of Danica Patrick. The No. 43 Ford of Aric Almirola then crashed into Logano, with Almirola unable to properly slow the car due to fluids on the racetrack.
Almirola suffered a compression fracture to his T5 vertebra in the Lap 199 crash and was released from a Kansas-area hospital this morning. In a prepared statement, Richard Petty Motorsports’ said “Almirola is mobile and will follow-up with his doctors in Charlotte.”
Further details on Almirola’s condition are expected to be released later this week. You can relive the scary wreck through the NASCAR-provided video embedded above.
