Swapping a small-block LS into this third-generation Chevrolet Camaro RS and calling it a day would have been easy – almost too easy. But while the owner may replace the factory 3.1-liter V6 at some point in the future, for now, it remains, and the rest of the car has been re-engineered around it.
We give him an “A” for effort.
This F-body Camaro, driven recently by The Smoking Tire‘s Matt Farah, has been tweaked to be more capable at the track, featuring a 6-inch-wider track front and rear, and an enhanced aerodynamic profile.
The build required tons of fabrication, including the coil-overs and one-off control arms, which are 3-inches longer than the factory pieces. All in all, the work must have been worth it, because Farah seems to be a huge fan. His only quip is that the Camaro could use a bit more grunt than its (claimed) 190 horsepower, but as we’ve said, the owner is planning an LS swap for a later date.
We’re sure Farah will feature the final product on another episode of The Smoking Tire‘s “One Take” series. Until then, have a look at where the project stands thus far.
