Katech Releases Valve Covers And Coil Relocation Kit For Gen-V LT Engines

Katech has released a few new goodies for fifth-generation GM small blocks, including the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 L83, the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 L86, the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated LT1, and the 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 engines.

One of these new fifth-gen small block parts is a set of stylish cast-aluminum valve covers – a popular product across all applications, Katech says. The company’s in-house CNC-machining capabilities are available to personalize the valve covers with custom engravings, and of course, the covers can be powder-coated. They can be ordered with slots to accept Katech logo inserts and custom inserts, as well.

Yet these aluminum valve covers are more than just a cosmetic enhancement; Katech states that they are functional, as well, as they provide more clearance for high-performance valvetrain components such as larger valve springs and rocker arms. They are also designed with easy access to the cover fasteners without removal of the ignition coils.

“Katech’s Gen V valve covers build on the functional design and style introduced with our original LS-series covers,” says Katech Director of Aftermarket Operations Jason Harding. They are priced at $429.99 a set, or $444.99 for slotted covers.

The covers are offered for either wet-sump (with fill hole and Mobil 1 oil fill cap) or dry-sump (no oil fill provision) applications, and include fasteners, gaskets and all necessary fittings.

The other of Katech’s new gen-five small block parts is a coil relocation kit, which allows the coil packs to be mounted above the valve cover. This is a great addition for someone who spent the money on customizing the valve cover and wants to put it on full display. The relocation kit itself is $229.99, and Katech also offers MSD plug wires at $55 and spark plug boot insulator socks for added heat protection at $6.99 each.
